Welcome to the 2017 IEEE Pulsed Power Conference (PPC). This is the 21st Pulsed Power Conference in the series and marks a new step with being located for the first time outside the USA on the south coast of England in the historic town of Brighton. The Pulsed Power Conference is the principal forum for the discussion of pulsed power science, technologies, systems, and applications.
PPC 2017 has attracted a total of 470 abstracts for the technical programme which has led to a full and varied schedule. The global research effort in Pulsed Power is represented by roughly equal contributions from the Americas, Europe, and Asia. This broad and balanced representation continues and strengthens the conferences position as a truly international and inclusive venue for technical and scientific exchange.
Papers from this conference will be collected for the Conference Proceedings to be mailed to the attendees on DVD, which will include papers from the entire PPC series. All paper authors are also invited to submit significantly expanded versions of their papers to a special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science Journal. All submissions to both the Conference Proceedings and the Special Issue will be available on IEEE Xplore.
In addition to the technical programme PPC 2017 has attracted nearly 40 exhibitors. Morning and afternoon breaks will be served in the exhibition hall (both floors), so while you are enjoying your coffee, please pay a visit to the exhibitor booths, where you will be able to discuss the latest products and services on the market. Our exhibitors are highly valued partners in making the conference a success.
The social programme at PPC 2017 will give all attendees a chance to relax and network. There is a reception on Sunday evening, the Women in Science and Engineering reception on Monday, on Tuesday is the PPC Night Out on the i360 (Brightons newest attraction), and the conference banquet will be on Wednesday.
Without the efforts and support of a great many people and organisations this conference would not be possible. The conference is sponsored by IEEE through the Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS) and supported and guided by the Pulsed Power Science and Technology Committee (PPST) who have been invaluable in the preparation of this conference. In addition, PPC 2017 has a number of financial sponsors whose contributions and support have certainly contributed to the success of the conference.
I and all of the Conference Organising Committee would like to thank you for your supporting and attending this conference and hope you all enjoy this meeting in Brighton!
